Concierge Medicine

Wed, Jun 30th, 2010 at 8:11 pm

We just got back from the annual conference of the Society for Innovative Medical Practice Design (SIMPD), which is a group of doctors and health care professionals developing new models to break out of the current health insurance driven economy. Best of luck to them! We spoke with a lot of doctors setting up concierge medical practices. They take on fewer patients, charge them a yearly premium, and in return give them a full workup, a fitness and medical plan to follow, and round the clock cell-phone access to their doctor. Most are targeting a high-end clientele, but imagine a few years down the road, when this paves the way for direct billing from your doctor. Prices will be lower, as the administrative costs of dealing with insurance companies has gone away. Imagine having your doctor recommend lab work, and being able to tell you exactly how much it will cost you! You can do your own cost/benefit analysis right on the spot. Try doing that with complicated reimbursement schedules from insurance companies.

So why was Air Ambulance Card there? We’re developing special pricing for these concierge practices, so that their innovative relations with their patient doesn’t end at the city limits. If the patient is hospitalized around the world, we will fly them back to the doctor they’re paying extra to be able to access anytime, anywhere. We’re proud to help break open the current health care market, and come up with systems that work for the consumers, and their budgets!
