Medical and Evacuation Coverage Fastest Growing Area of Travel Insurance Industry |
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (August 8, 2007) – New data indicates travel medical and medical evacuation coverage are the fastest growing sectors of the travel insurance industry. Statistics from the 2007 Travel Insurance Market Survey conducted by the US Travel Insurance Association confirm what prepaid air ambulance membership program Air Ambulance Card, LLC® has experienced in recent years.
“Our new members are realizing that a standard travel insurance policy or their credit card coverage may not get them home in an emergency,” said Air Ambulance Card president Sam Jackson. Jackson says unlike those policies, Air Ambulance Card memberships have no clauses excluding members with pre-existing conditions and they have no “nearest appropriate facility” restriction that allows the company to chose the hospital to which a patient will be transported. “We fly you home to the hospital you choose, period,” said Jackson.
According to the USTIA survey, in 2006 travel medical and medical evacuation sales accounted for only 4% of total travel insurance sales, but posted the highest gains of all travel insurance products at almost 34%. In a further mirror of Air Ambulance Card’s growth, online sales of travel insurance doubled from 2004 to 2006. The USTIA estimates its membership represent more than 90% of the US travel market.
Air Ambulance Card® provides travelers with prepaid hospital-to-hospital air ambulance service, domestically and abroad. The membership program offers services for a period of one year to families or individuals, and corporate accounts. Air Ambulance Card memberships are available to residents of the U.S. and Canada and cost $195 per year for individuals and $295 per year for families.
