How Medical Transport Works
If you find yourself in need of our air medical evacuation services, just call the number on the back of your card and we'll take it from there. Air Ambulance Card members travel with peace of mind.
Here is a step-by-step look at the air evacuation process.
What you can do:
Protect Yourself:
Purchase an Air Ambulance Card Membership before you leave for your trip.
Call Us:
If you, or another member, is hospitalized while on your trip, simply call the toll free number on the back of your card (877.424.7633) or call collect from anywhere in the world (205.297.0060).
Provide Details:
We'll need the following information:
• Patient’s name
• Caller’s name and relationship to the patient
• Hospital name, location and phone number you're calling from
• Attending physician’s name and phone number
• Destination city, hospital name and doctor’s name
Here's what our team will do:
► Contact the attending physician for a medical report and then contact your hometown physician to arrange admission and secure a bed.
► Choose the appropriate aircraft and medical team, make overflight arrangements and coordinate all of the details with passport and customs for your return flight home.
► Arrange ground ambulance transportation from the hospital to the airport for you and one traveling companion, if the space on the aircraft permits. Other traveling companions and family members typically return home using their original return tickets.
► Help make arrangements for shipping your personal belongings home. There is usually space for one small piece of luggage on the plane.
► Stay in constant contact with your traveling companions and family members (that you authorize) to update them on the progress of your flight, your continuously monitored medical status and your estimated time of arrival.
► Provide ground ambulance transport from the plane to the hosptial of your choice. Our in-flight medical team will remain with you until you are admitted and settled in the hospital, under the care of your selected physician.
