Unfortunately, Mass Shootings Are a Reality
Mass shootings and terrorist attacks are being reported with more frequency these days. It is hard to turn on the TV or scroll through our phones and see yet another report of a terrible tragedy.
The fear of a mass shooting can also put a damper on travel plans, or at least make us re-think them. Every time another shooting happens we think, “Is it safe to travel?”
Tragedies are going to happen. Instead of hiding away in our homes and letting our fear of what might happen prevent us from experiencing the world, we can protect ourselves in other ways.
An emergency medical plan can provide the peace of mind you need to still venture out and do the traveling you love, while knowing you will be protected and taken care of should a mass shooting or other tragedy occur.
What do I do if I am traveling in an area when a mass shooting occurs?
The Washington Post recently published an article on How to protect yourself during a mass shooting.
Mass shootings can happen anywhere, at any time. It’s imperative that everyone know how to react.
Once you have secured your safety and the safety of those around you, seek immediate medical treatment. Once you are stabilized you will want to figure out how to get home. If you have a medical emergency plan you can contact your provider who will spring into action to get you aeromedical transportation back home.
FACT: The fine print on most travel insurance states it does not cover you in the case of an act of terrorism. But an emergency medical plan will!
Protect Yourself, Don’t Hide Yourself
Yes, it is very important to protect ourselves and our loved ones. However, we are still citizens of this great big, exciting world. There is so much to see and do out there–it would be a shame to miss it.
Please consider sharing this article with someone who may be re-thinking their travel plans because of mass shootings. Or share it with someone you know who does a lot of travel, either for business or fun, who could use this type of protection.
