Make your security experience as smooth as possible
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced recently that their new TSA Pre✓® application program has reached a new milestone with more than 2 million travelers enrolled. TSA Pre✓®, which opened its first application center in December 2013, now has more than 350 application centers nationwide, including locations at 38 airports.
What does this mean for international travelers?
According to their website TSA Pre✓® is an expedited security screening program connecting travelers departing from the United States with smarter security and a better air travel experience.
Passengers considered low-risk who qualify for the program can receive expedited screening either as a member of the program or another specific trusted traveler group.
As a member you will not be required to remove:
- 3-1-1 liquids
- Light jackets
Who can be a member of TSA Pre✓®
The TSA Pre✓® application program membership is open to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals and lawful permanent residents who complete the enrollment process and schedule and appointment to visit an enrollment center. You also need to provide fingerprints, required documentation and payment.
You may not need to apply for the TSA Pre✓® application program if you are a member of the US military, Department of Defense or US Coat Guard. Also, of you already have a Known Traveler Number (KTN) or are a member of another Trusted Traveler Program.
You may be ineligible if your application is false or incomplete in any way. If you violate any transportation regulations or have disqualifying criminal offenses and factors.
In addition to a smoother security check, be sure you’ve considered how you’ll get home if you have an emergency situation pop up!
